Exacto Pour Bible

Exacto-Pour is a breakthrough method for training bartenders to pour accurately portioned liquor shots.

Bartenders free pour into a series of test tubes the shot size management wants customers to receive. Measurement graduations on the side of the test tubes are hidden from sight by the Exacto-Pour stand during test pours and are used afterwards to evaluate the accuracy of the bartender's shots.

This is a necessary training tool in bars that do not have automated control systems that portion liquor shots. Bartenders can even teach themselves to pour consistently using the Exacto-Pour system. Management should test bartenders periodically to insure their pouring accuracy.

Is shot consistency important? When liquor drinks are over-poured 1/4 ounce, bartenders cost an operation 6 drinks per bottle! If your establishment empties an average of only 8 bottles per night, that equates to 2,500 drinks that didn't make their way to the bottom-line that year!

The Exacto-Pour(tm) is a tool used to train and test bartender pouring skills. Although it is most commonly used for free pouring, you can also improve jigger pouring skills with the device. Exacto-Pour(tm) is accurate enough to calibrate liquor systems and is also helpful in creating new recipes.

The patented Exacto-Pour(tm) consists of an acrylic case with cylinders marked with graduations of 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 4, 1 1/2, 1 3/4, and 2 ounces. The long narrow cylinders or tubes visually exaggerate even the slightest pouring error thereby motivating improvement.

In addition to the primary graduations, the tubes also show deviation marks at 1/8 and 1/4 ounce over and under the target portion size.

The thin line marks the amount indicated. The dashed line marks 1/8 oz. variations from the thin line. Between the dashed lines is considered the acceptable range for free pouring. For greatest accuracy, read the liquid level at the lowest point ( bottom of the meniscus).

The Exacto-Pour(tm) is open on one side so the bartender call see all the tubes while learning to develop the sense of timing needed to accurately pour all amounts (1/4 to 2 ounces).

When the unit is turned around, the bartender can not see the tubes and can be tested according to your standards. A sample test sheet and score card is included or you can design you own test by what is important to your bar.

Bartenders pour into any glass or container you wish and then check pouring accuracy with the Exacto-Pour(tm). For purposes of speed, you can pour directly into the tubes using a plastic funnel. O-rings hold the tubes in the case, so to empty the unit, you just turn it upside down.
